From restaurateur to food innovator

Mario Enero

A brief history.

Hailing originally from Spain, Mario Enero is a long time resident of Whistler BC.

He is the former owner of Caramba! and La Rua restaurants, each a well known name amongst Whistler locals and visitors alike. A gracious host to all that have walked through their doors, known for quality and classic style in seasonal West Coast mountain cuisine.

Enero continues to be a mentor to many in Whistler’s hospitality industry, and in 2016 became the inaugural inductee into the Restaurant Association of Whistler Hall of Fame.

For the love of wine.

Mario is an avid promotor of Spanish wine, and during his years as a restaurant owner brought these products from Spain to the table in his restaurants in Whistler.

Continuing this support today, he currently showcases the products available from Bodegas Manual Moneva.

The food movement.

In 2010, Mario began working with The Innovators, Alberta Meats, and Passion for Pork.

The goal to showcase natural, hormone free and grass fed proteins to the food and service industry.

Hosting events for chefs and leaders in this industry, sharing how to use and promote these foods in their recipes and establishments.

Mario continues to embrace and encourage the food movement from animal to plant based proteins, and his work with innovators in the industry to help bring about change.
